Inscription can be one of the more difficult professions to make gold with, but it can be highly profitable if you have the right market and experience.
Is Inscription Right for You? Depends on the server!
Like most other professions, the glyph market can either be extremely profitable or dismal depending on the market of your particular server. It’s important to weigh in the raw material costs of each glyph recipe before venturing down the path of the scribe. Click to continue…
Auctioneer is the backbone of most every merchant’s tool arsenal. In short, it is a convenient ingame addon that build an information database of the auctions from a player’s server. In just a few minutes, Auctioneer can make a complete list of items available and prices at which those items are being sold. As a player performs more scans, this information gradually becomes more and more accurate.
If a player regularly scans their Auction House at least once per day, Auctioneer will virtually be able to predict any given item’s accurate market price.

One really neat trick to making gold off Inscription is by creating Darkmoon Faire decks on the cheap. A lot of players don’t bother with them, but that’s what makes this a great opportunity for those of us who see the potential!
Putting in about 10kg each (the lowest amount was around 8k), I created three Volcano decks alongside one Hurricane Deck. Because I’ve currently rolled a mage, I only actually sold three of these decks. With just these three decks, I made a total profit of around 42,600g.

One of the big business makers here lately has been Obsidium Ore—and if you’ve been missing out, it’s not too late to get into the game. Depending on your server, it’s pretty easy to buy at around 60-65g per stack for about 6000g total investment into around 15000g just by prospection alone.
There’s an insane amount of gold to be made with Obsidium Ore, but a lot of merchants too lazy to do anything other than flip it raw—leaving a potential gold mine for those players fortunate enough to know how to use this to their advantage.
